An on-site private Pub? Seriously? Yep! Welcome to The Hound & The Hare. Add to that, next door we have a Cigar & Whisky Lounge - The Bond Room. Then a customized Drying/Gun room - Boots & Brown Bess + attached dog kennels for their helpful hunter friends - all for our outdoorsy guests coming in off a day of shooting, traipsing & tracking. We also have a giant, artisan hand-crafted fire-pit seating easily, 16 people to enjoy…a bevy of bicycles for fun hill rides. And much, much more. You get the idea. It’s special here. Very special. An actual Pub, you ask? Yes! It’s really a Pub. A private one. Welcome to your very own on-site pub, the Hare & the Hound. Included in your rental is the use of this fun gathering space for you and your family/friends, complete with a working fireplace to keep warm, a baby grand piano for all those inevitable singalongs that are sure to happen after a bit…opening to the fire-pit gathering area outside All this to add the obvious charm only a personal pub can add to your celebrations and group gatherings here at Greenhill Lodge.

We had to! And we could. Cheers to the cigar|whisky lounge, aptly named The Bond Room. Why you ask? Why not, we respond. We had the space and really, it’s just another fun and comfortable, albeit with a tad different vibe, place to gather together. Play your fave LP’s with the legit old-skool HiFi set up and what a sax too? Yes, even a saxophone & a couple guitars to play. Mix & mingle - James would definitely approve. Feuch & Slainte!
-Boots & Brown Bess-
“Back in the day”… Brits referred to their muskets as Brown Bess so we’re going with it, hence the name of our newly designed Drying Room for you on-site Shooters & Hunters. It’s loaded with all your practical needs in mind: heaters/dryers, boot warmers, secure gun lockers & work table from France. From the fields to drop your Wellies & wet field jackets. Hose off the hounds. Clean the equipment - then meet over at the Hound & The Hare to relax, warm up in front of the lit fireplace…reminisce over the feats and tales of the day!
-The Greenhill Circle-
Hand-crafted by Neil Bryce, our beloved local “Stone Picasso”, the fire-pit was crafted by hand from Hownam Mains stones, owned by the Duke. These stones are connected to this land - in fact Neil’s own father grew up there. It’s personal, this place of comfort and warmth. Large enough to seat all & intentionally located between the Lodge & Pub for your group to come together at the end of a day on the moors, for long evenings and legendary storytelling. Warm under the vast skies of the Southern Uplands - our Greenhill Circle offers an ancient connection; this Scottish lore of earth, sky, fire & stone.
-The Bothy Guest Cottage-
We’ve created an extra rental space, should you need if for your Group. The Bothy Cottage is a newly renovated and cozy, charming separate one bedroom flat with a full kitchen, sitting room, bathroom & bedroom. It can easily sleep 3 additional people - be it for your in-house chef, nanny, security staff, or even that crazy Uncle (said with love) - it’s ready and available for you to add to your Main Lodge booking.
